Meet Jan…
In 2022 Jan traded the relentless pace of Melbourne’s corporate world for something far more alive, the open road, unfamiliar faces, and the kind of curiosity that can’t be satisfied behind a computer screen.
She rode through the vivid landscapes of Rajasthan, the lush backwaters of Kerala, the rolling tea plantations to Goa, and the stark, soaring heights of Ladakh and the Himalayan Mountains, pushing herself and her bike to the roof of the world at Umling La, the highest motorable pass on earth.
But it was in the serene valleys of Kashmir that Jan’s journey found its true purpose. There, she discovered the ancient and meditative art of silk rug weaving, a tradition woven as much from story and soul as from the strong, beautiful silk thread.
With the same restless intellect that had carried her across mountain passes and desert roads, she pursued every detail of this craft with fierce devotion, seeking out every artisan, every technique, and every whispered piece of knowledge she could find.
